Becoming a Great Christian Artist (St. Therese Wednesdays Session C 10:40-11:25 a.m.) 2nd-12th

This is a beautiful, guided inspiration course in Art, with a focus on Christ’s life. The skill level of the art project is dependent on individual ability, offering each child the opportunity to develop their own style, with gentle coaching on technique. For semester 1, we’ll focus on the parables of Jesus. Second semester, we’ll focus on the mysteries of the rosary; The Annunciation, The Wedding at Canna, The Proclamation of the Kingdom, The Baptism in the Jordan. Students will read the bible verses at home that correspond and discuss the meaning with their family. In class, we’ll view beautiful pieces of art that will inspire us, helping to give us vision to the piece we’ll create in class.

Each Semester is worth 1 Indiana high school credit

There will be no tests, but the last class will be an artists’ exhibition, having each student pick their 3 favorite pieces to display and discuss.

Homework is not required unless the reproduction is not completed in class.

Required Materials: at home copy of the bible, pencil case/zip bag for holding all art supplies, art book: minimum of 30 sheets size 11×15 or larger; designed for mixed media, pencil and eraser, acrylic paint set, plastic paint pallet, small pkg of baby wipes, cup from laundry detergent or similar to use for paint water

** All classes require online family registration and enrollment. Year-long classes carry a $50 yearly enrollment fee. This enrolls your student in the class for the entire year. There is no need to re-enroll for 2nd semester. The cost of the class is due no later than the first day of each semester in an envelope labeled with your student's name & the class name with cash or a check made out to the teacher. Registration and Enrollment Fees are non-refundable.
