Year long ($50 enrollment fee)

An engaging homeschool course integrating geography, sociology, and faith to help students understand the diverse cultures of the world.

Through interactive learning, students will explore how geography shapes societies, how traditions and customs develop, and how historical figures—including both sinners and saints—have influenced their cultures. Since we will study American history next year, we do not focus on North America in this class.

Each unit will focus on a different country or region, studying its physical and political geography, social structures, religions, and cultural traditions. Students will examine key historical figures, from leaders and revolutionaries to saints who transformed their societies through faith and virtue. By comparing and contrasting these individuals, students will gain a deeper understanding of how personal choices and beliefs shape history. Discussions will encourage students to consider the moral and ethical impacts of historical events and cultural changes.

To bring these studies to life, students will participate in interactive map activities, case studies, and student-led research projects. They will engage in cultural immersion activities, such as trying traditional foods, listening to music, and learning basic phrases from different languages. Contests and quizzes will test their knowledge in fun and engaging ways, while role-playing and simulations will help them experience life from different cultural perspectives. Students will also work on long-term projects, such as researching a country and presenting their findings at a Geography & Culture Fair, where they can showcase displays, traditional dress, and even food samples.

This course is designed to inspire critical thinking, cultural appreciation, and a global perspective while reinforcing historical and moral lessons. By the end of the class, students will not only have a stronger grasp of world geography and cultural diversity but also a deeper understanding of how faith and individual choices shape societies. Whether through research, hands-on activities, or engaging discussions, this class makes history, culture, and faith come alive in a way that is meaningful and memorable.

There will be homework each week and larger projects we’re working toward throughout the months and year.
