Latin (St. Therese Mondays Session D 1:00-1:45 p.m.) PreK-4th

Course Description:

This class is an easy “fun” way to introduce Latin to your children. For year 1 (song, phrases & prayers) there are no books or written assignments, so it’s perfect for younger children or overloaded parents. We will review some of the vocabulary from last year, but all the song and prayers are new. Year 2 is for those who are reading well on a 3rd grade level and you are welcome to purchase Memoria Press' Prima Latina.

We use ecclesial pronunciation, which is different than classical Latin. We’ll cover grammar, vocabulary, songs children may come across in Mass, common prayers in Latin and a few phrases.

Parents will have access to an audio file to play for the students to practice with for days they do not have class through a Facebook group. Additionally, parents will be sent copies of everything studied each week, including flashcards.

Year 1: No experience This class is excellent for children who are not yet reading or who don’t want more things to “study”, but would like an introduction to Latin.

Year 2: Some Latin experience

~The first day of class, your student will be sent home with mini-posters and flash cards for use at home as well as added to our class facebook group where digital recitations can be accessed daily at home for practice. Additional materials will be sent home as they are used in class. You don’t need to obtain any other books or materials for the course! Except for having your child listen to and participate in the recitations, you’re done!

Required Materials: all materials are provided; access to internet & a willingness to spend 5-10 minutes per day reviewing are all that’s needed.

** All classes require online family registration and enrollment. Year-long classes carry a $50 yearly enrollment fee. This enrolls your student in the class for the entire year. There is no need to re-enroll for 2nd semester. The cost of the class is due no later than the first day of each semester in an envelope labeled with your student's name & the class name with cash or a check made out to the teacher. Registration and Enrollment Fees are non-refundable.
