Learn to Read (St. Therese Wednesdays Session B 9:50-10:35 a.m.) PreK - 2nd

Course Description:

Our Learn to Read class is designed to cater to young learners at different stages of their reading journey. For preschoolers and those who don’t already know them the focus is on introducing letter recognition and sounds. Through playful activities, children will explore the alphabet, learning to recognize first lowercase and then uppercase letters and understanding the sounds that each letter makes. This foundational stage is crucial for developing phonemic awareness, all within a fun and interactive environment that encourages a love for reading from an early age.

For children in who know most of their letters and sounds (often kindergarten through 2nd grade) we offer a comprehensive, phonics-based approach to reading. Utilizing a variety of educational tools such as songs, games, activities, worksheets, and readers, we create a dynamic and engaging learning experience. Each lesson builds on previous knowledge, helping children develop their reading skills step-by-step. These methods ensure that learning to read is a joyful and active experience, tailored to meet the needs of young readers and foster a lifelong love of reading.

While easy for some children learning to read caa difficult challenge for others. Consistent, encouraging, and positive practice and reinforcement is imperative. Homework is NOT optional for this class to be successful.

Required Materials: (For those who know their letters and sounds) Raceway Workbook, Sing Spell Read and Write. All other materials are provided.

** All classes require online family registration and enrollment. Year-long classes carry a $50 yearly enrollment fee. This enrolls your student in the class for the entire year. There is no need to re-enroll for 2nd semester. The cost of the class is due no later than the first day of each semester in an envelope labeled with your student's name & the class name with cash or a check made out to the teacher. Registration and Enrollment Fees are non-refundable.
