Lost Skills (St. Therese Mondays Session F 2:40-3:25 p.m.) 3rd-8th

Welcome to the Land of The Lost… Lost Skills!

In this class, we’ll endeavor to recapture some of the lost skills of the world. We’ll use a passport booklet to track our skills as we go. At each new skill page we can take notes, draw pictures, and stick pictures in to remind us. We’ll learn how to tie a tie, press flowers for use in decoration and even learn which ones are safe to use as food decoration, make paper, use basic power tools like a drill, sander, and screw gun, basic car maintenance like checking the oil in your car, napkin folding and table setting for a formal dining event, filling a tire with air and checking tire pressure with a pressure gauge, making soap, basic hand sewing, calligraphy and more. This is sure to be a useful and adventurous class, and one that your student will definitely remember!

There is no prerequisite for this class. There are no tests, but each student will chose a skill that we have not covered in class to present as a lost skill in the final week of each semester. Each student will display a visual, make a presentation, and have a sample of the work to exhibit in the Lost Skills Fair of week 12 and 24. This class will count as one high school credit as an elective.

** All classes require online family registration and enrollment. Year-long classes carry a $50 yearly enrollment fee. This enrolls your student in the class for the entire year. There is no need to re-enroll for 2nd semester. The cost of the class is due no later than the first day of each semester in an envelope labeled with your student's name & the class name with cash or a check made out to the teacher. Registration and Enrollment Fees are non-refundable.
