Course Description:

In our fast-paced and noisy world, children need a quiet place where they can simply be, to feel and be recognized as children of God. Our Montessori-based Catholic religion class offers such a sanctuary. We acknowledge the existing relationship between each child and God and aim to nurture and deepen this bond. Inspired by Sophia Cavaletti, one of the founders of this method, our approach respects the child's dignity, developmental stages, and unique needs. We engage children with the beautiful parables of the kingdom, such as the mustard seed and the pearl, presenting these profound yet simple stories of Jesus in a way that resonates deeply with their young hearts.

Utilizing Montessori materials and imitating her methods, we provide a serene environment where scripture and liturgy come alive. Children interact with thematic materials following a quiet, slow, and uncluttered presentation of the Word. This sacred work begins with lighting the Christ candle and reading scripture, fostering an atmosphere of reflection and wonder. Using "I wonder" statements, children are gently encouraged to ponder the teachings without pressure. The process often concludes with a song or prayer, allowing children to internalize the message. Through repetition and contemplation, children connect with the Last Supper, recognizing Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for us. Our goal is for children to dwell with the Lord in their work, with the leader as a silent observer, nurturing their inherent relationship with God.

** All classes require online family registration and enrollment. Year-long classes carry a $50 yearly enrollment fee. This enrolls your student in the class for the entire year. There is no need to re-enroll for 2nd semester. The cost of the class is due no later than the first day of each semester in an envelope labeled with your student's name & the class name with cash or a check made out to the teacher. Registration and Enrollment Fees are non-refundable.
