Student must be able to write a grammatically correct sentence and paragraph with appropriate punctuation, supporting ideas, opening and closing sentences, etc., before taking this class.
Get ready to build confidence and sharpen your public speaking skills in a supportive and engaging environment! This course will guide you through the process of researching, preparing, and delivering speeches in both public and group discussion settings. You’ll receive constructive feedback from both your peers and the instructor, with a strong focus on encouragement and growth.
Throughout the semester, we’ll cover a variety of speech styles, including introductions, informative, persuasive, and impromptu speeches. In addition, we’ll work on conversational skills and discuss current events to make our sessions dynamic and relevant.
You’ll keep a notebook to organize your outlines, homework, and class notes, helping you track your progress. Over the course of the semester, you’ll have the opportunity to present at least 10 speeches, gaining hands-on experience and earning high school credit for a speech class. The speech schedule is flexible and may be adjusted to fit the unique needs of the class. Get ready to find your voice and have fun along the way!
