Year long ($50 enrollment fee)

Exploring the dynamic relationship between science and theology, we look at how faith and reason interact without compromising the integrity of modern scientific discovery.

Through readings and discussions, students will critically engage with scientific concepts in the context of Christian belief, addressing key questions at the intersection of faith and the natural world. As this single topic, applied to a myriad of different issues, many teens are drawn away from their faith in college. To help our teens know how to respond to these inquiries, we openly discuss it before they have to defend it, arming them for the future.

Topics Include:

Faith and Science: At the Crossroads of Nature and Spirit – Understanding the harmony and tension between religious belief and scientific inquiry.

The Big Bang & Creation: Is Scripture Anti-Science? – Exploring the relationship between biblical accounts and cosmological theories.

Patroness or Persecutor? The Catholic Church and Scientific Discovery – A historical look at the Church’s role in scientific progress.

The Ultimate Question: Has Science Disproved God? – Examining arguments for and against the existence of God through the lens of science.

Science vs. Scientific Atheism: A Clash of Worldviews – Distinguishing between scientific discovery and ideological interpretations.

Beyond Darwin: Faith and the Origins of Life – Investigating perspectives on evolution and divine design.

In the Image of God: Science and the Origins of Humanity – Analyzing modern scientific insights on human origins in light of faith.

Miracles: Signs and Wonders at the Intersection of Faith and Science – Evaluating the possibility and significance of miracles in a scientific world.

Honors-level assignments available upon request.
